Does your face tell the world “what time of the month it is?”

Hormonal acne

Hormonal acne

The dreaded break out appears 7-10 days before your period, and you feel like everyone knows your cycle. I remember telling my fiancé (now husband) about the monthly visitor on my face, and he always knew when I might be acting a little irrational. This information he had was not helpful when I was feeling feisty and sure I was not being hormonal. Luckily for me hormonal pimples stopped the year I got married. So why do these guys show up on our face before our monthly gift from mother nature? To put it simply, all the hormonal biochemical reactions that take place in our body before menstruation cause hormonal fluctuations that stimulate our sebaceous glands. This stimulation can cause inflammation and oil surges in the pore that can cause these monthly annoyances.
